Reign FC offseason player updates

reignfc-croppedSEATTLE, WA– (club release) Reign FC players were back in action abroad as the W-League in Australia played their semifinal matches and the Frauen Bundesliga in Germany rounded out their thirteenth week. Here’s a look back at how Reign FC players fared in their most recent matches as well as a U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) update.

LEAGUE PLAY:

Australia – W-League

Kendall Fletcher, Lauren Barnes and Elli Reed met in the W-League semifinals as Canberra United and Melbourne Victory played to a 0-0 draw on December 13. Fletcher, Barnes and Reed each played the full 120 minutes for their respective sides and as neither team found a goal during overtime, the match was decided by a penalty shoot out. Barnes and Reed each buried their kicks, but a save by the Canberra United keeper gave the edge to the away team and Fletcher’s take put Canberra through to the finals.

All three Reign FC players have now completed their loans and will return to Seattle before the start of the 2015 National Women’s Soccer League season.

Germany – Frauen Bundesliga

Jess Fishlock and her side FFC Frankfurt found their form once again, defeating Duisburg 4-0 on December 14. Fishlock played the full 90 minutes in the victory and FFC Frankfurt now sit in fourth place with 28 points.

FFC Frankfurt will now turn their attention to their December 21 match against Bayern München in the DFB Pokal Women’s competition.

Brazil were able to get one back before the half and possession swung between the two sides. Brazil then found their equalizer in the 55th minute before Marta completed her hat trick with the winning goal in the 65th minute.
