The Tacoma Stars are in negotiations to move into the professionalMajor Arena Soccer League (MASL) as early as Friday, January 16 with the intent of stepping in to complete the final seven MASL matches of Seattle Impact FC.
Stars owner Lane Smith has been vetted and approved by the MASL. Now Smith describes talks with Impact owner Dion Earl as “95% complete” in a move that would see the Stars go pro and play starting Friday night in the Puget Sound region against the San Diego Sockers. Smith would acquire the rights to the Impact MASL franchise and would immediately rebrand them as the MASL “Tacoma Stars” for this and future seasons.
The Stars would also play out their current season in the Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL).
