Pumas_logoBREMERTON, WA— (club release) The Kitsap Pumas Soccer Club, which is a professional soccer club located in Bremerton, Washington, has announced their tryout dates for the upcoming 2015 USL-Premier Development League (PDL) soccer season.

As a platform for countless players to reach their dreams each year, the USL’s mission is to develop the sport at the grassroots level in every community across the region by providing a clearly defined path for soccer players to eventually play at a professional level. According to the USL-PDL webpage “the PDL has proven to be an important stepping-stone for top professionals now playing throughout the world, with 70 percent of all MLS draftees having PDL experience.”

And the Kitsap Pumas are one of the most distinguished clubs that competes in this highly respected tier of the USL. Since their inaugural 2009 season, the Pumas have won three Northwest Divisional Championships (2009, 2011, and 2014), two Western Regional Championships (2011 and 2014), three Ruffneck Cups (2012, 2013, and 2014) and a PDL National Championship in 2011.

The Kitsap Pumas consistently draw standout players from top collegiate programs and other, often professional, programs throughout the United States and around the rest of the world. Just this past season the Kitsap Pumas, who were 2014 USL-PDL National Finalists, showcased a very talented team composed of players from across the United States, Mexico, Canada, Ireland, England, Scotland and Belgium.

Not only does this specific PDL program deliver great results year in and year out, but it also offers top players a crucial opportunity to compete at a very high level and to develop through quality training with great coaches.

Cameron McDonald is in his first year as the Kitsap Pumas Head Coach. After playing professionally in Scotland for respected clubs such as Livingston FC and Aidrieonians and for the Pumas in 2013, McDonald decided to take on the task of assistant coach for the Pumas 2014 campaign.

When asked about what it means to him to play such a vital role in the further development of the Kitsap Pumas organization, McDonald could barely contain his excitement.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to manage such a strong club” MacDonald said. “But the best of this club still lies in its future and if we continue to put the hard work in each day then there is no limit for the extent of our success. We’ve made no secret of our aim to move this club to USL Pro level.”

MacDonald was asked about what he and his coaching staff hopes to find in the prospective players that will attend the upcoming tryouts.

“We look for gifted players who work hard every day, have positive attitudes and guys that just plain know how to win” stated MacDonald. “However, not only do we look for talented players that will fit our vision for the club on the pitch but we also look for guys that will be quality role models for our youth teams and the rest of the Kitsap community.”
