TUKWILA, WA—(club release) Sounders Women Head Coach Hubert Busby has steadily built his roster for the 2015 W-League season as the Sounders Women head into the open tryouts this weekend at Starfire Sports Complex. Part of that process is making sure the goalkeeping core is ready for tough conference play. Kate Scheele (Seattle, WA) and Emily Boyd (Seattle, WA), two locally developed goalkeepers, will return to Seattle this summer to hold down the nets for the Sounders Women.
“Both Kate and Emily are locally developed keepers we’ve been monitoring for some time,” stated coach Busby, “Both had great seasons in the PAC 12 conference this past fall and we expect them to continue their strong play in goal this summer. We want to follow in the tradition of the Sounders Women having great keepers and these two continue the trend.”
Kate Scheele is a Crossfire ECNL and Washington Youth Soccer EPD veteran who was called into the U18 WNT in 2012. The 5’8” senior was also a 1st team C-USA selection along with the 2013 C-USA tournament Defensive MVP while at Colorado College. Scheele has transferred to the University of Colorado Buffaloes program.
Emily Boyd was also a member of the Crossfire ECNL program and Washington Youth Soccer EPD program. Boyd attended the U15 WNT camp twice and she was invited to participate in the U18 WNT camp in 2012. The Cal Berkley product also participated in an ODP event in Costa Rica in 2013.
With these two high level goalkeepers, the nets are well protected for the 2015 W-League season. Tickets for the 2015 season are available at www.sounderswomen.com.
