Here’s the match report from GoHuskies.com:

TUKWILA, Wash. – UW women’s soccer concluded its spring schedule with a 0-0 tie against the Seattle Sounders Women Thursday night at Starfire Sports Complex.

“You see glimpses of brilliance, but it’s hard to get everyone on the same page in the short amount of time that we’ve been together,” head coach Lesle Gallimore said. “Defensively, we were solid all spring. We just haven’t quite found our stride going from the middle to the front third. We’re capable of good things. We are capable of moving the ball around. We just have to find the connection between our midfield, our forwards and our outside backs.”

The Huskies began the game with energy and built a few good looks through the first half but failed to put anything on frame or test the Sounders’ keeper. Midfielders Kelcie Hedge and Shannon Simon combined with forward Becca Schoales to do a lot of good things going forward, but the Huskies couldn’t find the back of the net.

In the second half, the Huskies held more possession that the Sounders and had a few dangerous looks, including a long throw in that Schoales almost ran down in the box right in front of the goal. The Sounders’ keeper met Schoales and got enough of the ball to knock it out of bounds and force a Husky corner.

UW also got a good look when Havana McElvaine’s free kick was deflected wide, giving the Huskies a corner kick. McElvaine took the corner and found forward Rachel Wheeler in the box. Wheeler’s header was on frame and had pace, but was right at the Sounders’ keeper.

The Washington defense, led by keeper Megan Kufeld, earned its second shutout in a row. Centerbacks Allyson Brahs and McKenzie Karas, along with outside back Dominque Bond-Flasza, have helped lead a strong defensive performance this spring.

The Huskies will return to their offseason program in preparation for the upcoming fall season. Follow UW women’s soccer on Instagram and Twitter for updates and information on the team at @UW_WSoccer.
