Sounders Women add Wisconsin’s Rose Lavelle


The Sounders Women have signed Rose Lavelle from the University of Wisconsin to bring experience and tenacity on the pitch to an already potent attack.

As a freshman at Wisconsin, Rose Lavelle started in all 19 matches, ranking second on her team in goals and first in shots. She was ultimately named the No. 24 best player in women’s college soccer by Top Drawer Soccer and she won Big Ten Freshman of the Year. She won consecutive All Big Ten First Team honors her freshman and sophomore years. Lavelle went on to train with the U-18 National Team and the Under-20 World Cup Team where she earned her first international goal against China in the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Lavelle earned the Golden Ball at the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship.

“Rose is a tremendous talent who’s technical ability suits our playing philosophy,” explained Sounders Women head coach, Hubert Busby Jr, “Technical ability aside, her work rate and attitude to improve daily is what makes her a special player.”

The Sounders Women start the league season playing at the Arizona Strikers on May 24th. The first regular season home game is May 30th 8pm at Starfire Sports versus the Colorado Storm. Tickets and the schedule can be found online at
