Reigning Northwest champions Issaquah SC kicked off their 2015 campaign with a draw at Eugene Timbers FC Azul. Issaquah took the lead in the first half, but goals from Eugene’s Taylor Boyer and Riley Smith tied the game up in the last few minutes of the match.
Issaquah shook off Friday night to go on and win their second game of the weekend against the Portland Spartans on Saturday, defeating the Spartans by three goals and maintaining a clean sheet.
Olympic Force’s WPSL debut was dampened by a last-minute loss to Fuerza FC of Marysville, WA. The Force had come back from a 1-0 first half scoreline, but conceded a late goal in the 89th minute.
On Sunday, Portland visited the Eugene Timbers, falling by four goals. Eugene’s Ashlee Schultz opened the score in the 18th minute with a free kick. The Spartans held off the Timbers up until halftime, but they couldn’t keep it up during the second half. Taylor Boyer scored the second Timbers goal in the 59th minute, and two minutes later Hannah Smith notched a third. Katy Schmidt added a fourth for a resounding 4-0 win at home.
