Mele French, the 2014 W-League Most Valuable Player, has joined the Sounders Women for the 2015 campaign. The Mililani, Hawaii native played the 2014 season for the now defunct Pail Blues where she finished the regular season as the Co-Assist Champion with 8 assists and 2nd in league scoring with 8 goals.
French has reached four championship finals in her five seasons in the W-League earning three league titles. Her stops as a player include SC Freiburg, Sky Blue FC of the WPS, Pali, and the University of Oregon.
“We are pleased to add Mele’s experience to the squad, “explained Hubert Busby Jr., Sounders Women Head Coach, “Having played at the highest level, she provides our young group with calming influence and insight both on and off the field.”
The Sounders Women host the Colorado Storm this Saturday at 8pm at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. The group will look to French to lead the team in securing another three points following the team win in Arizona this past weekend.
