The Snohomish Panthers rallied with three goals in the second half to repeat as 4A state champs with a 3-1 win over the Central Valley Bears of Spokane.
“The reason we come back is everyone doesn’t get too uptight, and we don’t start worrying,” said defender Blake Crutchfield. “We keep calm, collected in the head. Ultimately just fight back.” (King 5).
This is Snohomish’s fourth state title in 17 trips to the state tournament. It is the first time Snohomish has won back-to-back, and the last time a 4A school won two in a row was Decatur in 2002.
“These guys worked hard for it,” said Snohomish coach Dan Pingrey. “People didn’t truly believe they could do it again. It is tough. To be down the last two games and come back and be successful, I can’t tell you how proud I am of them.”
