Sounders Women clinch playoff spot, finish regular season this Saturday versus Arizona

(club release) The Sounders Women returned from Colorado with a playoff spot secured but also suffered their only loss of the W-League season to date. The trip in Colorado started against the Colorado Pride who are fighting for playoff contention four points behind the Sounders Women at 24 points with two games remaining. The Pride are currently two points ahead of the Colorado Rush with each team having two games remaining and battling for the right to represent the Western Conference in the playoffs. The Pride let the conference know they are determined to make the playoffs with a 5-0 drubbing of the top team in the Western Conference and handed the Sounders Women their only loss so far.

The Women in Green quickly rebounded to hand the Colorado Storm and the Colorado Rush losses and secure the playoff spot on a tough three game road trip. The Sounders Women scored in the first minute of the game versus the Colorado Rush on a goal by Janelle Flaws who has come on as of late. Flaws has 6 goals and 3 assists and only follows Rose Lavelle who currently has 7 goals and 4 assists on the season. The Sounders Women held on to win 2-1 against the Rush and it now sets up an all Colorado battle for the second spot out of the Western Conference for post season play.

The Sounders Women play one remaining home game this Saturday for the regular season finale against the Arizona Strikers. The game is being hosted by the Mercer Island Football Club at Mercer Island High School Stadium. Arizona sits last in the conference with a record of 1-10-0 and 66 goals against on the year. If the Sounders Women win the game, they secure home field advantage for the Western Conference Championship game against either the Colorado Pride or the Colorado Rush.

Come cheer on the future at Mercer Island High School this Saturday, July 11th. Game time is 3pm with a Pre-Match Clinic at 1pm. For tickets to the game or for Pre-Match Clinic sign up, please go to
