It’s a very busy weekend in soccer in Washington.
Seattle Sounders FC lost last night at CenturyLink Field 1-0 to the Colorado Rapids. The match bordered on silly at times as players continually lost their footing on the grass pitch laid over the Field Turf that had been used the night before in the Manchester United – Club America match.
Reign, Sounders Women fall
Seattle Reign FC had an unbeaten streak snapped as they lost 3-0 at the Washington Spirit. In Tukwila the Sounders Women suffered a bitter disappointment to a great season when they lost for only the second time, but it was enough to end their playoff / championship dreams, 2-1 to the Colorado Pride.
Issaquah in WPSL Western Final
In Issaquah the ISC Gunners broke out big against former National Champs the San Diego Sea Lions. Eventually ISC held for a 3-1 win that puts them in Sunday’s WPSL Western Final against SoCal, who beat Tottenham Hotspur Eastbay Ladies 5-0. The final is at 1 PM at Issaquah High School. ISC scored goals in the 1st minute (Macy Jo Harrison), 8th minute (Kelsey Passaglia), and 22nd minute (SD own goal) to break the match open. San Diego got one back in the 59th minute.
South Sound / EPLWA advances to USASA National U23 Final
Early on Sunday (4 AM PST) the South Sound Shock / EPLWA kicked off against Rosedale Super Eagles in the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) semifinals in Virginia Beach, VA. The Shock beat Rosedale 3-1 to advance to the championship match, which will be played at 9 AM PST Sunday.
Shadow on verge of EPLWA crown
The Spokane Shadow can win the EPLWA on Sunday if they beat Bellingham. On Saturday the Shadow beat Seattle Stars 4-1 in Everett. Bellingham was busy routing Wenatchee 6-2.
