TACOMA, WA— The Tacoma Stars of the MASL have been holding open trials this weekend at the Tacoma Soccer Center. The pro indoor soccer club has been networking with clubs in the WISL to get a quality turn out of local indoor soccer talent. Today, Sunday August 16, the Stars Reserves — plus new goalkeeper Danny Waltman — will play a group of WISL All Stars at 4:30 at the Tacoma Soccer Center. Gates open at 3 PM. Admission is FREE.
The game will include all star players from Bellingham United, Arlington Aviators, and the Oly Town Artesians as they match up against the Tacoma Stars trialists along with Stars new goalkeeper Danny Waltman and potential players to be signed. Familiar faces from last years team will be seen on this team as well.
The players were selected based on recommendation from coaches and staff of WISL teams to Darren Sawatzky, Stars head coach. Many of them are also on trial for the Tacoma Stars MASL Professional team.
The Far Post Bar will be open for the game and Stars merchandise and information the upcoming MASL season will also be available.
The Stars will also keep a team in the WISL, calling them the Tacoma Stars Reserves.
