Washington state’s high school soccer participation numbers are included in the most recent National Federation of State High School’s participation survey.
Earlier we posted that nationally high school soccer saw a bump of 15,000 players.
Here are the 2014-15 numbers in Washington:
Boys Soccer: 278 school programs, 10,354 student-athletes
Girls Soccer: 273 school programs, 9,232 student-athletes
The last time we checked in on these numbers was in 2013. Back then there were also 278 boys high school soccer programs. There were 270 for girls, meaning that number has now increased by three schools. The number of players combined back then was 19,851. For the 2014-15 survey the number of soccer student-athletes in Washington dropped a bit to 19,586, a decrease of 265.
