Trinity Lutheran men break through with eight goals, school announces broadcast partnership

KLAMATH FALLS, OR— (submission to The Trinity Lutheran College (Trinity) Men’s Soccer team picked up its first win in an 8-1 victory over Multnomah University on Sunday, September 6th.

Trinity’s Ifi Ekpo would score the match’s first goal in the 3rd minute as he rocketed in a shot from 30 yards out. Ekpo finished the game with two more goals in the 43rd and 88th minute to give him a hat trick.

Teammates Carlos Magana and Bryant Maxey netted two goals each in the 2nd half and Tulio Melo scored in the 77th minute.

Maxey also led with three assists. Along with Maxey, Ali Shams, Giancarlo Soprano and Tuugii Bayarsaikahn who joined Maxey on the assist line.

After the game Maxey said, “It was one of those games that showed we wanted this win more than the other team. We now know what we have to do to win and our scoring confidence is there now.”

Trinity’s offense amassed 32 shots, while the defense, anchored by Drew Cherbert held Multnomah to just 6.

“We finally found the right combination of players today. We took a gamble and threw it all up front.” Said Coach Tim Colvin. He went on to say, “We played well enough to beat anyone and Ifi Ekpo was solid and scored well, and the duo of Tulio Melo and Carlos Magana were magic today.”

The win gives Trinity a 1-4 record and momentum going into their mid-week home match against Linfield College.

Trinity Lutheran College Partners with Snohomish Times Sports Network for Broadcasts
Trinity Lutheran College (Trinity) has announced a partnership with The Snohomish Times Sports Network to broadcast all Men’s and Women’s Home Soccer Matches for the 2015 season.

Starting September 7th, fans can stream the game live via YouTube and also watch the match on demand after it’s completion.

The move adds to the professionalism of the College’s Soccer Program and allows Trinity Soccer to both grow their brand and name while using the broadcasts as a recruiting and marketing tool, along with permitting athlete’s friends and families to tune in from both domestic and international markets.
