Picture Perfect: Lady Dolphins overcome 0-2 halftime deficit to defeat Edmonds CC

SHORELINE, WA–On Saturday, September 19th the Women’s Soccer team hosted their North Region rival the Tritons of Edmonds Community College. This was a huge game in the North Region as Shoreline sat tied for 3rd place with Edmonds and Whatcom at 3 points. Edmonds struck twice in the first half on dead ball goals. In the 21st minute Edmonds finished a PK after a Shoreline defender handled in the box. Edmonds’ second goal came in the 39th minute when the Tritons were first to react to a Naza Hernandez save.

The Phins pulled a goal back in the 56th minute on a beautiful piece of play between Tayler Lime, Sam Bell and Rylee Odell. Lime played a ball into Bell on the near post who promptly dribbled the keeper and played a cross to Odell to finish. Trailing 1-2 the Phins continued to control the game creating the most chances throughout the second half.

NWAC LOGOShoreline finally broke through in the 79th minute as Mikayla Morgan slotted her shot past the Tritons’ goalkeeper after a through ball from Caty Miller. The Phins weren’t done as just a minute later Sam Bell scored off her own rebound to give the Phins the 3-2 victory.

With the win and a loss from Whatcom the Phins moved into sole possession of 3rd place with 6 points. Shoreline travels to league leading Everett Community College on Wednesday, September 23rd. Their next home game is Saturday, September 26th against Whatcom College at 12:30pm.
