Video Buzz: WA Youth Soccer introduces Regional Championship documentary film

TUKWILA, WA  – (releaseWashington Youth Soccer is proud to release “PAC MEN,” a documentary film on the experience of the Pacific Northwest SC 01 Maroon boys team at the 2015 US Youth Soccer Region IV (Far West) Championships last June in Boise, Idaho.

Produced by Washington Youth Soccer and Levy Films, PAC MEN explores the characters that make up the team and goes behind the scenes of their journey leading up to and during the Regional Championships.  The film exposes some of the experiences that help grow and shape not only the team, but the individuals on and off the field.  Levy Films previous work includes documentaries on Seattle Sounders FC (American Football) and the 2014 MLS All-Star game.

“During the US Youth Soccer WA State Championships, Levy captured a spectacular goal from PacNW in the final.  With his unique style, we thought we might be able to really show the beauty of the play and skill of the young players in our state,” said Mike Anderson, Washington Youth Soccer Director of Communications.  “With that goal in hand, and knowing that this team was very good and had many talented players, we decided to follow them to Regionals.  We had no idea how the story would play out, but it really couldn’t have been scripted any better, and this film really captures the moments on and off the field that make youth sports so rewarding and valuable to their personal growth.”

As back-to-back Washington State Champions as well as Far West Regional League (FWRL) Northwest Division champions, PacNW 01 entered the tournament with hopes of advancing out of preliminary group play.  The hurdles that came along, both on and off the field, play out in a way that demonstrates how sport plays an important role in youth development, and made for a very compelling film.

“PAC MEN is a great example of what Washington Youth Soccer stands for,” exclaimed Terry Fisher, Washington Youth Soccer CEO.  “The film shows the level of play and emotion that goes into the game, but the impact of that experience and the lessons these young men learn along the way is really what Washington Youth Soccer embodies.”

Since the Regional Championships, PacNW 01 was selected to participate in the prestigiousUS Youth Soccer National League, and one of the main characters, Danny Robles, has beencalled into the Under-15 Boys U.S. National Team camp currently underway in Carson, Calif.
