Video Buzz: Emerald City FC claims big 10:0 win in WPSL action

Emerald City Football Club has its first-ever winning streak in Women’s Premier Soccer League play after a demolition of the Oregon Rush 10:0 on Saturday afternoon at Interbay Stadium in Seattle.

Megan Chapin started out the scoring in the 2nd minute with an unassisted goal after she won a ball from a Rush defender at the top of the box.  Chapin had four goals and two assists on the day.

Also scoring were Jessica Ayala (two goals), Sara Ives (two goals and an assist), Taylor Culver, and Amanda Penkrot.  Heather Thomas and Maya Marder each had two assists.  Casey Berrier and Ashley Waplinger had one assist a piece.

In other WPSL action the Spokane Shine take on the Portland Rain on Sunday in Oregon.

Emerald City began life in the WPSL with a home win back in May. Then the side played four straight back and forth matches that all ended in draws. Last week ECFC traveled to Bend Oregon and beat the Rush 5:0 to snap the draw streak. The large margin of victory gives Emerald City a whopping 22-5 goals scored advantage (+17 differential). ECFC’s record improves to 3-0-4 with 13 standings points.

The coming week will decide the Blue and Green’s debut season. ECFC hosts cross-town rival Issaquah SC On Wednesday July 11, travels to Spokane to play the Shine on Friday July 13 and then returns across the mountains to again face Issaquah, this time at Issaquah High School, on Saturday July 14.
