FC Tacoma expected to add two adult teams to City of Destiny

fctacoma_crestTACOMA, WA— FC Tacoma (FCTacoma.com) is getting ready to plant two new adult teams in the City of Destiny. Teams that formerly played under the “AC Seattle” banner will move south to Tacoma and become the FC Tacoma Men and FC Tacoma Women.

FC Tacoma was recently established at the youth level with designs on having a full-spectrum club. On the official website they proclaim: FC Tacoma (Federazione Calcio Tacoma) is an American Soccer Club with ITALIAN influence and was created through an agreement between OSA Soccer Academy LLC, and NorTac with the goal of creating a high level PDP program in the Tacoma area. OSA will be providing support and ACF Fiorentina will provide a proven Italian methodology under which the club will be trained. This long-term project will have some fantastic new additions regarding adult teams as well, so stay tuned!

In recent days they have teased of a big announcement, via social media. Further, club personnel have posted on local forums about the upcoming adult clubs.

One post reads: “The FC Tacoma Men will be holding their third tryout in Tacoma on Nov 15th. It will take place on the turf at Truman Middle School from 2pm – 4pm. The team will play in the National Premier Soccer League – NPSL for 2015. The official confirmation is yet to be released.”

npsl_logoA second post says: “For the past two seasons the team has played under the successful brand AC Seattle in the WPSL. For 2015 the team is moving to Tacoma to join the FC Tacoma club as its women’s team and with an intent of moving from the WPSL to the W-League. The AC Seattle men will be doing similar with a hopeful move into the NPSL.”

The FC Tacoma Men (who held tryouts as “AC Seattle” and have also played in local leagues) are expected to announce that they will play in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) in 2015. The FC Tacoma Women are currently in the Women’s Professional Soccer League (WPSL) as the AC Seattle franchise. The club hopes to move “up” to the W-League (USL) when they move to Tacoma for 2015.

Earlier this year goalWA.net featured FC Tacoma in a story about their big eventual plans. At that time the club was interested in chatting about their youth set-up. Now it appears they are on the verge of making the adult side official.

AC Seattle founder Giuseppe Pezzano, who also founded the Seattle-based OSA Academy, looks to be moving his soccer dreams south down I-5. Pezzano’s connections with first-division footbal in Italy and specifically with Fiorentina, mean that FC Tacoma is being born with a “purple heart,” or perhaps a “violet” one. The club crest honors Fiorentina’s.

Pezzano (a player’s agent who has brought Italian stars in MLS and elsewhere) might have the financial clout to get a Starfire-like soccer complex built in Tacoma for his clubs to play in. Previous social media posts and leaks suggest he and FC Tacoma have already being scouting land and talking with local officials about such a complex.
