ssfc-500(Shock release) Join South Sound FC as they take on Yakima United FC Saturday, June 27, 7pm at Harry E. Lang Stadium in Lakewood. The pre-game youth clinic will start at 4:30 pm. It’s not too late to sign up!

The last time these two teams met was in Yakima after a long road trip which included a friendly for South Sound FC against Lane United FC in Oregon the night before.

South Sound struggled early to create the dangerous pace needed to face a squad at home creating an opportunity to allow Yakima to take the early lead scoring two goals in the first half. A red card for South Sound didn’t help the away side as they continued to struggle in the first half which ended 2-0 with Yakima in the lead.

The players came out in the second half with a little bit of renewed energy and finally made it on the score board with a goal from Eli Peterson in the 67’. Another goal from Brandon Blanks in the 87’ leveled the score at 2-2. After playing down a man for 55+ minutes, South Sound managed to head home with a point.

After taking over the top spot in the Evergreen Premier League on Wednesday with a win againstVancouver Victory FC, South Sound need to continue their winning ways to keep in contention of winning the league.

Yakima currently sit in 5th place with a 3-5-2 record and 11 points. Two of their players are tied for second place for goals scored with 7 goals apiece. One of them, Victor Valdovinos, was last week’s EPLWA offensive player of the week while the other,Jesse Esquivel, was week five’s offensive player of the week. Esquivel scored both goals against South Sound in their first meeting this season.
