The Vikings have won 12 consecutive matches, matching the longest by the program over the last 30 seasons since a 38-match win streak from 1982-84 (also had a 12-match win streak in 2013).

smu“I am happy about the confidence, the character and the maturity the team showed after being down early,” said head coach Travis Connell. “They knew what had to be done and I barely had to say anything. They overcame, didn’t panic, went about it in a professional manner and just started chipping away at the lead.”

The Vikings allowed a pair of SMU goals within the first six minutes (2:16 by Sara Massee & 5:33 by Abby McFaul), and went into half trailing 2-0.

Pelogi single-handedly brought the Vikings back into the match with a pair of goals (53:26 & 58:00). The equalizer came on a corner kick from sophomore midfielderEmily Webster (Bellingham, WA/Sehome). Pelogi has scored in four of her last six matches, and is tied for second on the team with 6 goals (with Elise Aylward).

Miles scored the game-winner at 79:43, her team-leading 7th goal of the season and 4th game winner, and 39th career goal (5th-most in program history).

“The seniors – Catherine Miles and Savanna Moorehouse – were instrumental today in leading the team to overcome some obstacles,” added Connell.  “And Gabby (Gabriela) Pelogi continues to really add a spark for us.”
