SEATTLE, WA — There is some sort of irony going on that Seattle Reign FC were given two penalty kick calls on Sunday, the same day PRO (Professional Referee Organization) released a statement declaring the wrong call was made against Seattle in a 1:0 loss to Portland last week.  This time the Haitians didn’t leave too much doubt in the calls that came after multiple trips in the box.

Seattle Reign FC scored six goals in the second half, highlighted by a hat-trick from Lindsay Taylor. Seattle Reign FC reserve player Kennya Cordner scored Reign FC’s fourth goal of the match in her first appearance. Liz Bogus and Kristina Larsen added to to the score sheet with the fifth and sixth goals, respectively.

There were four Seattle Reign Reserves (SRR Issaquah)  players that were called up to play in the friendly yesterday; Erin Vaughan, Kennya Cordner, Emma Follis and Bree Rowe.  Erin, Emma and Bree all started and Kennya played the second half.  All four of the girls practice during the week with the Reign in the AM and then train with their Reserve teammates in the evenings.

Seattle, WA – June 2, 2013 – (club release) Seattle Reign FC opened up the scoring skies this afternoon as they beat the Haitian Women’s National Team 6 – 0 in an international friendly at Starfire Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, forward Kennya Cordner drew a penalty kick in the 54th minute in her first appearance with Seattle. Fellow forward Lindsay Taylor stepped up to take the penalty and placed it just inside the right post past goalkeeper Geralda Saint Luis, giving Seattle a 1 – 0 lead.

Taylor added to the scoring sheet in the 64th minute with a beautifully taken free kick from 23-yards away. The shot curled around a four-woman wall and froze Saint Luis before tucking inside the upper-right post.

Frustration began to mount for the Haitian National Team, when in the 69th minute Haiti defender Frantzcia Francios received her second yellow and was ejected from the game after fouling Jess Fishlock at the top of the box.

After Francios left the field, leaving Haiti with only 10 players, Taylor stepped up to the fire-kick and netted the first Seattle Reign FC hat-trick of the season the 71st minute. Taylor sent a bent ball up and over the wall that hit the bottom of the crossbar on the left side of the goal before going in.

The scoring streak continued for Reign FC in the 75th minute as Cordner put the ball between the legs of Saint Luis after receiving a perfect through-ball from midfielder Lyndsey Patterson.

Haiti continued to show no discipline as midfielder Jess Fishlock was fouled in the penalty box in the 84th minute to give Seattle their second penalty of the game. Forward Kristina Larsen took the penalty kick, which was saved by Saint Luis, but sent back to the top of the 18-yard-box. Substitute Liz Bogus tracked down the rebound and netted Seattle’s fifth goal of the match.

Haiti’s play seemed to become reckless when two minutes later defender Manoucheka Pierre-Louis received a straight red card for a slide-tackle from behind on Fishlock. This red card was soon followed by another yellow in the 88th minute, issued to captain Wisline Dolce, brining Haiti’s total to five cautions and two ejections.

Down two players and depleted, Haiti conceded a sixth and final goal in the 89th minute when Larsen, who received a through-ball from Fishlock, put a ball over the sliding Saint Luis and into the left corner of the goal.

Seattle Reign FC look to build on their scoring surge as they return to league play next Sunday, June 9 at 7 p.m. against FC Kansas City. Tickets are still available for next weekend’s match at ReignFC.com.

U.S. Women’s national team goalkeeper Hope Solo, along with Canadian Women’s National Team players Kaylyn Kyle, Emily Zurrer and Tiffany Cameron will all be available for the match against Kansas City next Sunday after missing today’s match due to national team duty.

Defender Emily Zurrer got the start in today’s US WNT match against the Canadian WNT, while Cameron came on in the 61st minute and Kyle joined her Reign FC teammates on the field in the 68th minute.
