The goalWA.net Washington Players of the Week in the WPSL and PDL have been chosen and goal-scorers again rule the selections.

In the WPSL our choice is Emerald City FC’s Marina Galaz, who scored a hat trick on Saturday and the match-winner on Sunday as ECFC stayed in contention for a playoff spot. Galaz, from Madrid, SPain, is a goal-scoring sensation for Iowa Western, having knocked in 29 last season. The foreign-born players are dominating our WPSL picks.

Previous weeks: In week one another foreign talent was named as our Player of the Week: Trinadad and Tobago’s Kennya Cordner. In week two  it was Serbia’s Marina Nesic. In week three  it was Italy’s Romina Pinna. Last week it was Wales’ Erin Vaughan.

In the PDL our choice is Christian Roldan, the future Washington Husky. He scored two goals as Washington Crossfire upset the Portland Timbers U-23’s 3:2. Roldan was the 2012-13 National Gatorade Player of the Year. He’s famous for sticking with his high school rather than joining an elite academy.

Roldan ended the Timbers U-23s four-game home shutout streak with his first goal in the 41st minute. Roldan then picked the ball from the Timbers U-23s’ backline to score again in the 64th minute to put Crossfire up 2:0. In less that two matches played he already has two PDL goals.
